Intro to Burlesque Dates
- April - Tuesdays 8-9:30pm starting Apr 1st
- July - Tuesdays 8-9:30pm starting Jul 1st
- August - Tuesdays 8-9:30pm starting Aug 5th
- September - Saturdays 2-3:30pm starting Sep 6th
- October - Saturdays 4-5:30pm starting Oct 4th
- November - Saturdays 4-5:30pm starting Nov 1st
4 Week Course | £150.00
Learn the basics of burlesque striptease, fan dancing, explore classic and neo-burlesque movement + music and more. This course is suitable for all levels of performance experience. Open to all genders and identities (you must be over 18+)
What to prepare: Bring a bottle of water. Wear anything that makes you feel fabulous as long as it’s comfortable to move in. Heels are optional.
- Week 1 - Intro to Burlesque Part 1. No props or costume needed.
- Week 2 - Intro to Burlesque Part 2. Gloves and boas are provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
- Week 3 - Intro to Feather Fan Dancing. Fans provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
- Week 4 - Intro to Striptease. For this class, you'll also need to bring a robe, hold ups or stockings, bra and/or vest.
Yes! This course covers some aspects of dance and movement but it is not a dance class. Evelyn's background is in theatre performance and directing. The Intro to Burlesque course is a theatrical performance class where we touch on a variety of skills for burlesque-ing, like classic burlesque movement & music, stage presence, striptease, playing characters, improvising and more. If you're looking for dance classes - sign up to our Monday & Tuesday drop-in classes.
Heels are optional, not required.
Intro to Burlesque is for every body (but you must be over age 18+)
Anyone new to the Soho School of Burlesque must complete the 4wk course before signing up to the 8wk Act Creation courses. It's not just an introduction to burlesque, but an introduction to the school and you will always learn something new. In fact, many of our Act Development alumni who perform on the scene regularly drop in to the Intro classes for a refresher!
